Star Wars Extravaganza

On March 30, we attended Star Wars Extravaganza at the Steeple Center in Rosemount, MN. I went as Zara Fenn for the first time in a little while. We had a wonderful time interacting with the kids and families there! We went down the street to the library to say hi to the kids there, too. Many of us got caricatures of ourselves in costume, so I took the opportunity to create a terrifying Twi’lek/Hutt monster.

HungerCon 2019

HungerCon2019

On March 23, all of the Costumers for a Cause groups appeared at HungerCon at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. It was a beautiful day! The con wasn’t as busy as it was a couple of years ago, but we still had a good time. I wore my Scarlet Witch costume (which I haven’t worn in a while!) and finally got a photo with Jordan in her Quicksilver costume. (Siblings reunited!)

Superhero Purim Carnival

On March 17, Minnesota Superheroes United attended the Superhero Purim Carnival at Temple of Aaron. I wore my Black Widow costume. There was an amazing turnout of costumers! We had a lot of fun interacting with the kids, eating cotton candy, and just getting into your typical superhero shenanigans.

Shoot for the Moon

On March 9th, the Star Wars groups got together and appeared at the Shoot for the Moon event at the Mall of America for a fundraiser benefiting the Mary Moon Foundation. We had a great turnout and took lots of photos, gave lots of hugs, and lots of high-fives!

I wore my mish-mash Twi’lek costume again (this time, combining my Poe Dameron costume and my Zeltron costume and a couple of other props) and I think it kind of worked.

Captain Marvel Premiere

On March 8th, Minnesota Superheroes United appeared at the CMX Odyssey in Burnsville for the Captain Marvel premiere. I wore my Black Widow costume, and we got up to some shenanigans taking photos, which was fun.

The movie was awesome, and I really enjoyed it! I obviously loved Goose, but who doesn’t love a Flerken?

Get in, losers, we’re going to Russia. Photo by Alex Hall.

No guns, no problem. I just used one of Bucky’s many weapons. Photo by Alex Hall.

MarsCon 2019

March 1-3 was MarsCon, and it was my third year attending. It was my debut of two new costumes: Black Widow and my Zeltron original character!

On Friday, I wore my Black Widow costume. I hosted a “Body Positivity in Cosplay” panel that I think went alright. It was my first time being on a panel by myself, and I thought I did fine, considering public speaking is not my forte.

After the panel, Alex took some neat shots of my costume!

Then, we all cruised around the party rooms. I sang karaoke in one of the karaoke rooms (didn’t do quite as well as I had hoped – I think I killed my voice from talking at the panel).

Saturday I debuted my Zeltron original character (Roxi Sunfell). I didn’t expect anyone to know what I was supposed to be (and they didn’t) but that’s totally fine by me! It was a fun costume to wear.

I briefly ruled the Klingons, so that was neat.

And I sang more karaoke!

All in all, it was a good MarsCon. I got to see friends, got to wear two new costumes, and had fun.
